Peter Schmitz Formenbau und Gravuren GmbH is a company that employs more than 50 people and which has been specialising in the manufacture of moulds for more than 30 years. Because of its experience, its highly qualified employees as well as its modern machinery, this company has quickly become a trusted partner and advisor for all its customers. On request we can provide complete solutions from blow moulds to ready finished articles (pressing, cutting, welding).

History

1957

Creation of the individual company by Peter Schmitz as a one-man business, with a 1940's used engraving machine, in the cellar of his parents-in-law's house in Troisdorf. At this time he performed only technical engraving work. Customer visits were made on a bicycle.

1962

Building of a workshop in St. Augustin-Buisdorf

1963

Production of injection moulding moulds. 1 employee

1969

Expansion of the business space Starting production of blow moulds for the packaging industry. 5 employees

1972

Purchase of an automatic copy milling machine The main focus was the production of blow moulds for the packaging industry as well as the first technical parts

1972-1980

1972-1980 Expansion to 10 employees

 

1980

Purchase of a 2-mandrel copy milling machine

1985

Purchase of the first CNC-milling machine with 4 axes

1980-1990

Expansion to 15 employees

1990

Establishment of Peter Schmitz Formenbau und Gravuren GmbH Partners: Peter Schmitz, Edith Schmitz Ute Zander nee Schmitz, Achim Zander Introduction of CAD-CAM

1991

Move to the Hennef industrial park, expansion of the office space to 600 m²

1992

Purchase of the first CNC-bed milling machine with a 3000 x 1200 x 1000 mm milling area, as well as an automatic tool changer The head of the business Peter Schmitz retires.

1990-1998

Expansion of the production area to more than 1000 m2 and expansion of the workforce to 30 employees Equipping with 2 CAD-Workstations for tool construction and 3 CAD-Workstations for CAD-CAM 2. CNC-bed milling machines with 3000 x 1200 x 1000 mm, 2 HSC processing units with an operating area of     1200 x 900 x 550 mm

1999

Introduction of a Catia workstation Company take over by Achim Zander and Ute Zander nee Schmitz  

2000

2 HSC processing units with up to 15000 U/min, operating area                        1800 x 1000 x 550 mm, 32 employees

2003

HSC machining center from the German manufacturer “Hedelius” RS 100 KL for simultaneous 5-axis machining, operating area 1000 x 1000 x 770 mm and 3-axis machining, operating area 2550 x 1000 x 770 mm, spindle speed of 18000 r.p.m.  

2005

HSC bed-milling and drilling-machine Soraluce TR 35 HSC, operating area       3500 x 1200 x 1400 with automatically pivoting milling head to enable 3 + 2-axis milling.

2010

2 Feature CAM workstations for 2D- and 2½D-programming

2011

Active Five milling center for simultaneous 5-axis machining, operating area      3000 x 1200 x 860 mm

2012

5-axis machining centre Hedelius RS505 K40 with integrated rotary/swivel table unit. The management decides to relocate the company due to lack of expansion possibilities.

2013

Start of construction work in Buchholz-Mendt October: Commissioning of Parpas 5-axis machining centre. Milling range 4000 x 2500 x 1500

2014

Additional 5-axis machining centre Hedelius RS805 K with integrated turn/swivel table unit

2016

Acquisition of an MTE RT3000 milling centre in October 2016. Milling range      3.000 x 1.500 x 2.000 mm with variable head and rotary table.

2017

Expansion of our production area by 330 sqm and acquisition of two new overhead travelling cranes with a load capacity of 10 and 16 tons each. Purchase of a type Mil 202 spotting press with a clamping force of 120 t. Platten size    2.000 x 1.500 mm
